Hope Point Worship Audition

We’re excited that you’re interested in using your talent and love of music to serve the church! This application is the first step in the process of helping you find a place to serve within the Hope Point body.  Our goal through this process is not to get you on a stage, but to help you find the place where you can use your gifts to glorify God.  We are excited to get to know you better!  Here are a couple of things to do before you get started:

Mission Statement

The Hope Point Worship Band seeks to lead the church to applaud God in spirit and in truth through biblically accurate worship, excellence in skill, and humble boldness through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Requirements

1. Must be a follower of Jesus Christ who is actively seeking to grow spiritually through personal prayer time and bible study.
2. Any regular member of the band rotation must be a Covenant Member of Hope Point Church for at least 6 months.
3. Must be a servant-minded leader. Our goal is to serve the church, represent Christ and not distract from the work of the Holy Spirit either on stage or off stage.
4. Must be proficient in playing an instrument and/or vocally.
Vocalists- The predominant requirement is singing harmony with the Worship Leader.  Vocalists must be able to find and hold harmony parts without too much aid from others.  Instrumentalists- Must be able to blend cohesively with other instruments in the band.  Knowing the role of the instrument played is essential.  Experience playing with other instrumentalists or vocalists is required.
5. Must be able to take direction from the Worship Leader.
6. Every Worship Band member must be able to meet the time commitment required for their scheduled week. This includes Thursday night rehearsals from 6:00-8:00PM,  two Sunday morning services, and personal practice and prep time.
7. Must be punctual for rehearsals and scheduled service times. For Instrumentalists, this requires gear to be set up and ready to start at the appointed start time.

Audition Process

Once you submit your application, the Worship Leader will contact you to arrange an audition time. He will communicate with you prior to the rehearsal about the song or songs for your audition.  If you have a successful initial audition, you will be placed on a 3 rotation trial period for Sunday mornings.  Once this trial period is complete, a final meeting with the Worship Leader will be scheduled.  At this meeting you will be informed of the decision whether or not you will continue on with the Worship Ministry.

Auditions are, by nature, a little intimidating. We will try to make the process as relaxed as possible. In some cases, it may be evident that an applicant’s skills have not developed enough to serve on a regularly scheduled basis. Should this be the case, those conducting the audition will give some advice on how the applicant can improve. After some time and practice another audition may be scheduled.
