A Weekend with Justin & Chau
On September 12th &13th, we had the joy of welcoming Justin and Chau back to Hope Point. Saturday’s Meet & Greet gave our church family the opportunity to spend time with them personally, and on Sunday Justin opened God’s Word with us during our morning services.
We are grateful for the time we shared together and excited for what God has ahead as Justin and Chau prepare to make the move to Spartanburg in October.

Meet & Greet - September 12th
Our church family welcomed Justin and Chau for a casual morning together and had the opportunity to visit with them personally.
Pastor Justin Preaches at Hope Point - September 13th
Justin opened God’s Word during our Sunday morning services as our church continued getting to know him and Chau ahead of their move to Spartanburg.
Preparing for the Move - End of September
Justin will conclude his ministry at Morningstar Christian Fellowship at the end of September as he and Chau prepare for their move from Toronto to Spartanburg.
Justin Begins Preaching as Lead Teaching Pastor - October 18th
Justin will preach his first Sunday as Hope Point’s Lead Teaching Pastor as we begin this new season of ministry together.
MEET JUSTIN & CHAU (CHO)
Before Pastor Justin begins serving at Hope Point, we want our church family to have the opportunity to get to know Justin and Chau. In this short introduction, Justin shares more about himself, his family, his ministry, and his heart for serving Christ and His church.
HOW WE GOT HERE
This journey began in January with what we called our “Antioch Moment.” For seven months, our church worshiped, prayed, fasted, and sought the Lord’s direction as our elders searched for Hope Point’s next Lead Teaching Pastor.
In this August 9th update, elder Dan Yacoviello shares more about that process and how the Lord led us to Justin.
WHY JUSTIN?
When our elders began the search for Hope Point’s next Lead Teaching Pastor, we prayed that God would lead us to the right man for this season of ministry.
A GIFTED PREACHER
Before we ever saw Justin’s resume or profile, we heard him preach. We were immediately drawn to his teaching.
Justin has a high view of Scripture, and his preaching is biblical, practical, clear, concise, and convicting. He primarily preaches expositionally through books of the Bible and has a passion for faithfully communicating God’s Word.
A HUMBLE SERVANT
From our first conversation with Justin, we were struck by his humility.
He has a warm and approachable personality, and we saw that same humility in the way he interacted with his wife and children. Justin doesn’t take himself too seriously, and we believe his personality will be a great fit for Hope Point.
A SHEPHERD’S HEART
Justin has a deep love for the people God has entrusted to his care.
Throughout our conversations, he consistently spoke about his love for the people he currently pastors in Toronto. His pastoral care and shepherding were evident not only in what he told us, but also in what those who know him best shared about him.
A PROVEN LEADER
Justin has served in pastoral ministry for nearly 25 years and has extensive experience leading churches, developing ministry teams, and casting vision.
He holds a Doctor of Ministry degree in Leadership and has led strategic initiatives at his current church. We look forward to working alongside Justin as we seek God’s direction for the next chapter at Hope Point.
A HEART FOR MISSIONS
Missions is part of Justin’s ministry DNA.
He has served internationally in places including India, Cambodia, Malaysia, Africa, Vietnam, the Philippines, and several other countries. He has trained pastors, served on the board of a Cambodian orphanage, and led mission trips around the world.
He also has a heart for local missions and outreach. From establishing an outreach to the Hispanic community early in his ministry to helping lead his current church in supporting a local pregnancy care center and launching a new church plant, Justin has demonstrated a desire to see the gospel proclaimed both locally and around the world.
We believe God has been at work bringing the trajectories of Hope Point and the Huffman family together for such a time as this.
A LITTLE MORE ABOUT JUSTIN
Justin has served in pastoral ministry for nearly 25 years. For the past seven years, he has been the Senior Pastor of Morningstar Christian Fellowship in Toronto, Canada, a diverse church of more than 800 members representing more than 70 nations. Before serving in Toronto, Justin spent 16 years in pastoral ministry in Cincinnati.
Justin holds a Doctor of Ministry in Leadership and a Master of Theology in Practical Theology from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, as well as a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and English Literature from the University of Memphis.
Justin is also a writer whose work has been featured by The Gospel Coalition, For the Church, Christianity.com, and other Christian publications. He has authored several books and resources focused on helping Christians grow in their faith and understanding of God’s Word.

PRAY WITH US
As we begin this new chapter at Hope Point, we invite you to pray with us. Pray for Justin and Chau as they prepare for this transition. Pray for their family as they make the move to Spartanburg. Pray for our elders, staff, and church family as we walk through this season together. And pray that God would continue to lead Hope Point as we seek to applaud God, follow Christ, and live on mission.
We are grateful for God’s faithfulness throughout this process, and we are excited to see what He has ahead for Hope Point Church.
