As part of our Christmas Memory Challenge, each week we hope to encourage you with a story or a strategy about Scripture memorization. Check back each week!

One of the reasons my family has enjoyed memorizing the Christmas story is because of the opportunities we have had to review it year after year and add more and more each time. We are blessed each year as it gets easier and easier.
We began seven years ago with our son Jackson at 2 years old, who started with “Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you”. We thought it was the cutest thing ever and like a typical toddler, he showed off every chance he had.
We recognized a gift in him and continued working on it each Christmas season. A couple years later (age 4) he had Luke 2:8-12 memorized. As I look back at home videos, I am always blessed to watch his innocent little heart learning about the birth of our Savior.
The following year he learned 2 more verses, and stood in front of a small congregation to recite Luke 2:8-14
I hope your family will start a new tradition this Christmas and begin memorizing Luke 2 as part of our church-wide Christmas Memory Challenge!
